One of the bright spots of the Colorado women’s basketball season that came to a close on Sunday was the emergence of several freshmen.

Grace Oliver, one of the keys to that young group, won’t be continuing her career with the Buffaloes, however.

On Wednesday, Oliver put her name into the NCAA transfer portal. The 6-foot-1 guard from Norwell, Mass., has expressed some desire to move closer to home, according to BuffZone sources.

While Oliver is moving on, star forward Jade Masogayo and freshman forward Tabitha Betson have announced they are staying with the Buffs, giving them a solid frontcourt duo as the foundation for the 2025-26 season.

Oliver, who earned praise from coaches and teammates all year for her work ethic and reliability, became a bigger part of the rotation in the second half of the season and wound up averaging 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds for the Buffs. She also hit 52.2% of her shots, including 39.5% from 3-point range (15-of-38).

After playing sparingly early in the year, Oliver averaged 14.1 minutes per game. She had a double-double (16 points, 14 rebounds) in a win against Houston on Feb. 15, and scored 12 points in the Buffs’ WBIT first-round win against Southeastern Louisiana last Thursday.

Oliver became one of the Buffs’ top rebounders down the stretch, averaging 4.8 in the last 10 games, while grabbing at least five boards in five of those games.

The women’s basketball transfer portal opened on Tuesday, and Oliver is the second Buff to enter the portal, joining fellow freshman Lova Lagerlid, who played in just three games. More than 800 players around the country have already put their name into the transfer portal.

Masogayo, who transferred to CU from Missouri State last summer, emerged as one of the better frontcourt players in the Big 12 this year, earning all-conference honorable mention. A6-foot-3 junior, she tied for the team lead in scoring (12.5 points per game), was second in rebounding (4.8 per game) and posted the fifth-best single-season field goal percentage (.599) in program history.

Betson announced Tuesday that she will return to CU for her sophomore year. She averaged 5.4 points and 3.8 rebounds while starting 13 of the 30 games she played.

With six players graduating and now two departing, CU currently has 11 scholarship players for next year, with four open spots. There is likely to be more movement, however.
