Seven teams across Boulder, St. Vrain and Broomfield are still alive in the prep football playoffs.

Fairview, in Class 5A, and Broomfield, in 4A, are at home this weekend after having first-round byes. Erie is headed to Colorado Springs to face Pine Creek after opening the postseason in its inaugural season in 5A with a dominant win.

Elsewhere, Monarch and Frederick are on the road after convincing wins in 4A’s first round.

The 3A playoffs, a week behind the rest of the classifications, include Mead and Holy Family. The Mavericks are home and the Tigers are on the road.

Class 5A

No. 7 Fairview (10-0)

Next up: No. 10 Chatfield at Christian Recht Field, Friday at 7 p.m.

Player to watch: A touted Division-I prospect, Fairview junior Toray Davis has six rushing touchdowns and seven receiving scores. As a defensive back, he has two interceptions and has forced two fumbles.

No. 9 Erie (9-2)

Next up: No. 8 Pine Creek at District 20 Stadium, Friday at 7 p.m.

Player to watch: Erie senior Carson Hageman, named the Longmont Times-Call defensive player of the year after the Tigers won the 4A championship last fall, has been dominant on that side of the ball again, averaging more than 10 tackles per game. He’s also been used as kicker, punter and running back.

Class 4A

No. 5 Broomfield (9-1)

Next up: No. 12 Vista Ridge at Elizabeth Kennedy Stadium, Saturday at 10 a.m.

Player to watch: Broomfield senior quarterback Darien Jackson has completed 65% of his passes this season, totaling 1,554 yards and 19 touchdowns. He threw for 12 TDs and no interceptions across his final five games of the regular season as the Eagles won their league title.

No. 10 Monarch (9-2)

Next up: No. 7 Mesa Ridge at CA Foster Stadium, Friday at 6 p.m.

Player to watch: Monarch senior Wyatt Carlucci and his sophomore brother Levi each had their first career interceptions in the team’s 28-7 win over Bear Creek in the first round. Wyatt’s was a 33-yard pick-six.

No. 15 Frederick (8-3)

Next up: No. 2 Montrose at Montrose High School, Saturday at 1 p.m.

Player to watch: Frederick senior Tristen Dean had 125 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in the Golden Eagles’ snowy, first-round win over Northfield. He has eight TDs and four interceptions this season.

Class 3A

No. 2 Mead (8-1)

First round: No. 15 Pueblo South at Mead High School, Saturday at 1 p.m.

Player to watch: The last time the Mavericks faced Pueblo South was in their season-opening, 33-14 win. In it, Noah Chapala had two touchdowns on the ground. He has eight on the year.

No. 16 Holy Family (6-4)

First round: No. 1 Thompson Valley at Ray Patterson Stadium, Saturday at 1 p.m.

Player to watch: Senior Monte Samaras leads the 3A defending champion Tigers this season with 14 passing TDs and 14 rushing scores. He threw for one and ran for three as they grabbed the final 3A playoff spot with a win over Standley Lake in their regular-season finale last week.
