A Petaluma business known for its focus on batteries and electrical devices has announced its imminent closure.

“I, along with my elderly parents Julie Kurasek and Ken Bean — who have been operating the store — have been the owner of the Batteries Plus in Petaluma that has been faithfully serving the community for the last decade,” said owner Christian Kurasek, in a note to the Argus-Courier. “We wanted to let the community know that we have made the difficult decision to permanently close our doors in the coming weeks.”

The east side business, located at 313 N. McDowell Blvd., is the local franchise of a 38-year-old national chain based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Each store in the chain offers batteries, light bulbs, lighting equipment, key fob services and phone repair options for retail and business customers.

Though no specific date was announced for the store closure, Kurasek confirmed that the end is near.

“We are currently holding a total liquidation sale to clear all inventory, including car batteries, device repairs, specialty lighting, fixtures, etc.,” he said. “We want to ensure our long-time customers have a chance to get what they need before we leave.”
