“Drawn to the Library” is the theme of this year’s Library Day event at Redlands’ A.K. Smiley Public Library, planned for Saturday.

The free event, running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be held in the library’s Assembly Room and outside, in Smiley Park.

Activities in the park will include face painting, balloon animals and games such as sack races and beanbag toss, and there will be a visit from a Redlands Fire Department fire truck, according to a news release.

In the park, Blue Hwy will provide live music throughout the event.

In the Assembly Room, visitors can explore the latest additions to the library’s video games collection and look through a collection of artworks that can be checked out like books.

Beginning at 11:30 a.m., there will be free food, while supplies last, provided by In-N-Out Burger, Happy Camper Creamery and Nicho’s Ice Cream, according to the news release.

Following the Library Day event, there will be a free Smiley Live concert, “The Autoharp Redefined by Bryan Bowers,” at 3 p.m. at the Contemporary Club, 173 S. Eureka St.

The A.K. Smiley Public Library is at 125 W. Vine St., Redlands. For information, go to akspl.org.
