Yolo Community Band will entertain the young and the young-at-heart at the Woodland Opera House on Sunday, July 6 at 7 p.m., with the production of “Disney (Pixar Edition), Dances and Delights.”

This family-friendly concert will feature music from several popular Disney/Pixar classics, “Ratatouille,” “Up,” “Cars,” and “The Incredibles.” The audience will also enjoy the sweeping melodies of Rossano Galante’s “The Falls,” the high-spirited dances of “Balkanya” by Jan van der Roost, and the toe-tapping dance tunes from “Suite of Old American Dances” by Robert Russell Bennett.

The amateur and professional musicians in the concert band come from communities throughout Yolo County, including Woodland, Davis, Esparto, Capay Valley, Dunnigan, Winters and beyond. They meet weekly under the baton of music director Michael Loya, band director at Jesuit High School and long-time Woodland resident.

“It is a thrill to work each week with such talented and enthusiastic musicians and to share their music with the community,” Loya commented.

The band is dedicated to encouraging musicians to pursue music education and performance throughout their school years and beyond, and to provide concert opportunities in the community for the enjoyment of the full repertoire of concert band music, including marches, popular movie and show tunes, as well as classical compositions. The band rehearses on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. and welcomes new members on all wind and percussion instruments throughout the year.
