A Schneider man is facing felony charges after allegedly threatening a woman with a shotgun.

Gary Heldt, 66, was charged Tuesday with intimidation, pointing a firearm, and misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a handgun.

He is not in custody, ordered held on a $3,500 cash bond.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department responded just before midnight on Feb. 2, 2023, to the 10300 block of W. 241st Ave.

The victim met cops and said Heldt was a convicted felon and she wanted the guns out of his house. Since it wasn’t her house, they told her they couldn’t do anything.

She said she stopped by two days earlier, where he threatened her with a shotgun for the latest time, the affidavit states.

In a later police interview, the woman said Heldt grabbed the weapon and told her to “get…out.”

She ran outside, ducked by her car, and tried to hold up a cellphone while recording it.

“I’m gonna use it,” he told her. “I’ll shoot you, don’t think I won’t. When I have a gun in my head I’m gonna use it.”

The woman said Heldt was likely drinking that day.
