85 years old Resident Santa Clara Clifford Newton Burrous is remembered as a doting husband, loving father, fun grandfather, brilliant engineer, teacher and author.

Cliff began his career as an engineer in the army and concluded it as the safety director at NASA Ames Moffett Field, where he met his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Rizio.

In addition to his career at NASA, Cliff also taught electrical engineering, often using his own text books.

Cliff enjoyed hiking, traveling and being a weekend orchardist, growing apricots and persimmons in Patterson.

Cliff is survived by his wife Carolyn Burrous, granddaughter Isabella Burrous, daughter-in-law Mai Do-Burrous, sister Peri Tharp, brother-in-law Richard Rizio, sister-in-law Sheila Rizio and their daughter Rheagan. He was preceded in passing by his mother Mary Bott, father Lloyd Burrous, son Christopher Rocky Burrous, and parents-in-law Rocky and Mary Rizio. Cliff’s family would also like to thank his two compassionate caretakers, Yeshi and Genet, who provided so much comfort in the last years of his life.

Visitation takes place on Sunday, February 2nd from 3 to 5p at Lima Family Mortuary, located at 466 N. Winchester Blvd. in Santa Clara. Memorial services will be on Monday, February 3rd at 11am inside Lima Family Mortuary chapel, with interment at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in Cliff’s name to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
