SAN JOSE >> Figure AI, a company that makes robots enhanced by artificial intelligence, has shifted its headquarters to an office building in San Jose in a major expansion for the tech firm.

The AI robotics company moved from its much smaller headquarters in Sunnyvale to an office and research building at 3960 North First St., according to this news organization’s direct observation of the company’s new headquarters site.

Brett Adcock, Figure AI’s founder and CEO, touted the relocation to the San Jose headquarters in a post on his LinkedIn page.

In addition to the headquarters, the new Figure AI “robot campus” will also support “manufacturing, fleet operations and overall engineering/design build-out,” Adcock stated.

The North First building totals 98,700 square feet, which means it could support up to 500 workers. Its former Sunnyvale office totaled 27,900 square feet, according to LoopNet.

Figure AI’s new location is also next to Logitech’s headquarters. Both buildings are part of the Assembly at North First complex, a tech campus between Headquarters Drive and Rose Orchard Way.In February 2024, Figure AI landed $675 million through a capital raise from Microsoft, OpenAI Startup Fund, Nvidia, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Parkway Venture Capital, Intel Capital and others.

“We’re blown away by Figure’s progress to date,” said OpenAI Vice President Peter Welinder. “We look forward to working together to open up new possibilities for how robots can help in everyday life.”

The funding round pointed to a valuation of $2.6 billion for Figure AI.

“Our vision at Figure is to bring humanoid robots into commercial operations as soon as possible,” Adcock said. “This investment, combined with our partnership with OpenAI and Microsoft, ensures that we are well-prepared to bring embodied AI into the world. AI and robotics are the future.”
