




Alameda softball player Mia Wong is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week, and Liberty baseball player Chayce Formosa is the boys athlete of the week for April 28-May 3.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Wong finished with 44.43% of the votes. Newark Memorial softball player Andrea Tall took second at 19.07%.
In the boys poll, Formosa had 54.54% to finish ahead of St. Ignatius baseball player DJ Delaney, who was second at 31.96%.
Wong, a sophomore, went 4 for 4 with two doubles, knocked in four runs and scored two runs as the Hornets rolled to a 10-0 victory over Bishop O’Dowd in West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division play.
Formosa struck out 10 in a complete-game performance to lead Liberty to a 4-1 win over Pittsburg.
