The Branson School team of Farah Allen, Imogen Brown, Maya Gidney and Hailey Sellers established itself as one of the fastest groups in the state in 4000 distance medley relay at the two-day Stanford Invitationals.

Brown, a senior, with sophomores Allen and Sellers and freshman Gidney, placed fourth on Friday in the first section in 12:06.87, the fifth-fastest time in the state.

Redwood’s Sydney Middleton, Marley Nacco, Kate Kozubik and Beatrice Nass won the second section race in 4000 distance medley relay (12:41.65), 3 seconds faster than St. Francis (12:44.05) which placed 12th in the first section race.

Redwood’s Julia Bayon was sixth in the 100 meter in 12.22 seconds, just a half-second behind the winner from Vanden. Tam High’s Emma Gardner took ninth place in the 1600 meter (4:58.62) on Saturday, while Nacco was 26th (5:23.43). Marin Catholic’s Molly Stewart finished 18th (2:17.63) in the 800 meter event.

St. Ignatius standout Ellie McCuskey-Hay, a San Rafael resident, took second in the long jump (18’8.5”) on Friday.

• Redwood High’s Julia Bayon and Middleton picked up a pair of individual wins and teamed up with Nacco and Kozubik to win the 4×400 relay in Thursday’s competitive meet with Marin Catholic and host Terra Linda. Bayon won the 100 (11.99) and 200 (25.36), with the Trojans’ Milena Taschian and Chloe Madrid finishing 2-3 in both events. Middleton won the 1600, ahead of teammates Kozubik and Nacco, and won the 3200.

Marin Catholic got wins from Stewart (400), Gabby Hays (800) Cali Capobianco (triple jump) and Yasmin Walcroft (high jump) on Thursday.

Boys track and field

Tam’s Nate Wanger placed eighth in the 400 (48.87). Archie Williams High’s Will Mulliken finished 11th in the boys 1600 (4:15.04) on Saturday at the Stanford Invitationals. Teammate Ian Sharp was 14th in the 3200 (9:30.61) on Friday.

Redwood High’s Antonio Bayon placed eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 14 feet, 6.25 inches. Bayon also placed eighth in the 110 hurdles (15.03).

• Bayon set new personal-best marks en route to three victories during Thursday’s meet with Marin Catholic and host Terra Linda. Bayon set a PR in the 110 hurdles (15.08) and the long jump (22’1”) and also won the pole vault (15’0”). Giants sprinter Marco Cleary won the 100 (11.09) and 200 (23.13) with a pair of PRs. Giants senior Nick Kemsley set PRs to win the 800 (2:06.28) and 1600 (4:32.08).

Marin Catholic senior Kyree Marshall. won the high jump (6’6”) and triple jump (39.4”) with a pair of PRs on Thursday, and the Wildcats also picked up wins in the 400, 300 hurdles and 4×100 relay). Terra Linda’s Tristan Collins set a PR to win the shot put (43’5”).

College baseball

College of Marin hit five homers in Saturday’s 28-2 home victory over Contra Costa. Alexander Cruz tripled and homered to drive in four runs for the Mariners.

Derek Bartram, Marley Corpus, Caden Sta Maria and Danil Wells also cleared the fences for the Mariners (21-9-1, 11-1 BVC). Wells, a Redwood High grad, was 5-for-6 with six RBIs and four runs, while Novato High grad Bartram had four RBIs and two runs.

Prep softball

San Marin rolled past Pittsburg, 16-3, but ran into a tough Clayton Valley Charter team in a 8-0 loss during Saturday’s tournament action at Rancho Cotate. The Mustangs (9-5, 4-2 MCAL) return to action after Spring Break on April 14 against Novato.

College softball

Dominican University split Saturday’s doubleheader with Concordia in Irvine. The Penguins lost the first game, 1-0, but turned the tables in the late game for a 1-0 victory.

The Penguins (23-18) got just two hits and reached base six times in the second game, but that was enough to set the table for Taylor Eby to drive home Karlyne Manuel for the winning run in the second inning.

Boys lacrosse

Tam High stepped up Saturday to face Whitney, the ninth-ranked team in the state. The Red-tailed Hawks, ranked 28th, fell 10-5 to the Rocklin powerhouse.

Boys tennis

Tam High’s Witt Bulger came out on top at No. 1 singles, but Marin Catholic came away with the 5-2 victory over the Red-tailed Hawks on Friday.

Bulger defeated the Wildcats’ Jack Millar 6-1, 6-1. But Marin Catholic got singles wins from Milo Vidyarhti, Andrew Gorcyzcki and Felix Adam, then picked up a pair of doubles wins for the victory. The Wildcats’ No. 2 pair of David Shepard and Ajax Constantin won a tough 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 match against Tam’s Sam Zail and Jude Paine.

• San Marin swept Friday’s showdown with rival Novato, 7-0, with singles wins from Milo Reyes, Alexander Christfort, Shawn Bested and Jamie Coureas. Christfort held off the Hornets’ Alex Kirsten 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 at No. 2 singles.

Prep baseball

Tomales High struck first, but Calistoga answered late to secure a 6-2 victory over the Braves on Friday. Tomales (3-5) is scheduled to host Sonoma Academy on Tuesday.
