It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Manthey Marie Smith on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the age of 82. Marie was born onApril 10, 1942, in Atascadero, California, and later moved to Monterey County.

She was a devoted Daughter, Wife, and Mother. Marie is survived by her nine children: George (Ellen)Taylor, Larry (Suzanna)Taylor, Cindy Calmus (Rob), Rhonda (Mike) Mills, John Taylor, Deborah Taylor, Chris (Rhonda) Taylor, Athena Smith-Perry (Anthony), and Anthony Smith 2nd (Shannon). She also leaves behind 29 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. One of Marie’s greatest joys was the bond she shared with her granddaughter, Aliza and the company of her cats. Marie’s loving nature and selflessness touched the lives of everyone around her. She loved playing cards and board games, as well as capturing life’s moments through photography. Her laughter and kindness brought joy to many, and she formed lasting friendships throughout her life.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, George Guches and Elvira Garcia, and her husband, Anthony Smith 1st. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 1-3:00 PM and a Homegoing service will take place on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 12-1:30 PM at Bayside Community Mortuary, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Loyal Order of Moose Monterey Lodge 876.
