


Isaiah Schwerin is taking over as the new girls soccer head coach at San Marin next season. Schwerin has spent the past couple of seasons as the head coach at Marin Catholic, helping guide the Wildcats to a NorCal Division IV championship in 2024.
Schwerin takes over a San Marin program that made strides this past season and returns several key players for next year including Tatum D’Angelica, Gianna Grasso, and Natalie Banton.
Boys golf
Low medalist Jack Hilleboe’s 33 at Marin Country Club set the pace for the Branson School in a 183-234 victory over Novato on Thursday. The Hornets were led by Grant Goodrich’s 41.
• Low medalist Noah Duncan fired a 38 to lead San Marin to a 219-237 victory over San Rafael on Wednesday. Cameron Moayedi’s 47 led the Bulldogs.
Boys lacrosse
Seamus Nesbit netted four goals and five assists as Tam High rolled past Terra Linda, 19-1, on Thursday to clinch a top-two finish in the MCAL. The second-place Red-tailed Hawks (11-5, 6-1 league) got two goals and three assists from middle Price Jeffris. Hawks goalkeeper Rocco Fazio had seven saves.
The Hawks were coming off a non-league win over Saint Francis of Mountain View, 14-5, on Wednesday. Jeffris had two goals and three assists, and a ground ball and forced three turnovers. Wade Hexamer also had four goals and two assists, while long pole Oskar Armour forced three turnovers, and tallied eight ground balls and a goal.
• Novato High earned a hard-fought 9-7 victory over non-league opponent University on Thursday. Tyler Smith led the attack for the Hornets (8-5, 4-2 MCAL) with three goals and an assist, while Parker Napp had a pair of goals. Johnny Roman, CJ Castro, Brian Yates and Beckett Smith each added a goal for Novato, which played a solid game at both ends of the field.
Boys tennis
Redwood High swept singles play en route to a 6-1 victory over Marin Catholic at the Bay Club Ross Valley on Thursday. The Giants’ Julian Zhang, Calado Fazal, Will Greenwald and Lukas Berger earned straight-set wins at Nos. 1-4, respectively. The Wildcats’ No. 1 doubles team of Charlie Miller and Felix Adam secured a 6-3, 6-2 win.
Women’s tennis
No. 4 seed Dominican University fell 4-1 in a tightly contested dual match with No. 5 Biola on Thursday during the PacWest Championships at Surprise Tennis and Racquet Club in Arizona. The Penguins (14-4) swept doubles play, with the team of Logan Koitka and Astrid Craig getting things started with a 6-3 victory. The No. 1 duo of Sofia Acuna and Audrey Rafols and the No. 3 team of Gina Dudley and Deepalakshmi Vanaraja also emerged victorious. Biola won four singles matches to secure the victory, with two singles matches left unfinished.
College baseball
Trailing 5-0 after five innings, College of Marin tried to mount a comeback against Solano, but the Mariners fell to the Falcons, 10-5, in Thursday’s Bay Valley Conference rivalry.
RBI singles by Wyatt Davis and Caden Santa Maria, and an RBI double from Adrian Ruiz in the bottom of the seventh closed the gap to 7-4, but that’s as close as the Mariners got. Ruiz was 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and Kisho Li Kircher was 2-for-3 for Marin (25-10-1, 15-2 BVC). The Mariners travel to Fairfield on Friday to wrap up the three-game series with the Falcons (15-20, 7-10).
