Anne Elizabeth Bauer, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully while in hospice care on May 21, 2025, in Baldwin Park, California.

Born on June 20, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Anne was the daughter of Mary and Paul Cockrell. She grew up alongside her brother William Cockrell and sister Marge Helinsky. Throughout her life, Anne remained deeply connected to her roots and was a lifelong Steelers fan despite moving to La Puente, CA, in1969 where she lived for 56years in the same home that she and her husband purchased and raised their three children.

Anne was married to Thomas Bauer, with whom she shared many years of companionship and family life before his passing. Later in life, she also found joy and partnership with Robert Lapensohn with whom she fulfilled her dream of traveling around the world.

Her enduring optimism and cheerful outlook carried her through life’s challenges, including surviving cancer for over 40 years—a testament to her strength and unwavering hope.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: daughter Theresa (Terri) Bauer-Rizzo and son-in-law Kevin Rizzo; son Thomas (Tom) Bauer; and son John Bauer and daughter-in-law Cheryl Bauer. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Joshua, Tobias, and Benjamin Bauer; Samantha (Cody), Curtis (Amber), and Rocky (Holly) Rizzo; as well as great-grandchildren Charlee Carr, Troy Rizzo, and Kylie Rizzo. She also leaves behind her sister Marge Helinsky and sister-in-law Martha Cockrell, and several nieces and nephews.

Per her request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. In her memory, donations can be made to organizations dedicated to cancer, heart, or kidney research, or to animal charities reflecting her lifelong devotion to cats.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
