TC Line

A few years ago, I gave up the Times-Call because of their left(-wing) bias, but I decided a while back to maybe try a subscription for a while to see if they’ve changed. So I made three TC Line calls, and not one of them got printed. So I guess they haven’t changed their bias, because all of my lines follow the rules, so I guess I’ll be canceling this one too.

Editor’s note: TC Line decisions are based on our ground rules, not politics. We ask callers to keep it brief, and we do not publish all calls.

Longmont protest

• A big thank you to the … editor of the Times-Call, who took full responsibility for the honest judgment error and scheduling misstep in not covering last Saturday’s giant protest in Longmont. That’s journalistic integrity at its finest. All the more reason why we need to continue to support a local newspaper, without which we would not know what is or is not happening.

• When Googling the word “news” for a definition, I read “newly received or noteworthy information especially about recent important events.” Using … the (editor’s) response: “An oversight” is inexcusable and unacceptable for responsible journalism. Try justifying “watch for follow-up coverage this week” to be news to me and others.

• The TC compounded its mistake by running the Longmont protest story on Thursday as if it happened the day before. OK, you owned up to your error, but a do-over story made you look silly.

• I am neither inspired or convinced by this rally. If this is for the “perceived” government mismanagement, where were these people over the last four years?

Gushing with gratitude

We would like to give a big thank you to the incredible employees at the city’s water department for their help Tuesday night during a line rupture. They came right out to turn off the water and back the next morning to repair the line at a very reasonable cost. Many thanks to Carla, the meter relocation coordinator, and Victor and the rest of the hardworking crew. They had it all fixed the next morning by noon. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Branch library

The city should consider using the old Safeway store space at 17th and Pace to house a branch library. The second library location would allow specialization of services, easy parking and possibly the inclusion of other city services.
