Tyrese Haliburton had 32 points and 11 assists and the Indiana Pacers beat host Philadelphia 121-107 on Friday night, with the 76ers playing the second half without Joel Embiid after he was struck in the face late in the first.

Embiid was battling Indiana’s Bennedict Mathurin when he caught an errant forearm and elbow to the bridge of the nose. Embiid crumpled to the ground and stayed down near the 76ers bench, holding his face.

The team ruled him out early in the second half with “impact to the right side of the face” and said he would undergo further testing. He had 12 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists in 171/2 minutes in the 76ers’ 121-107 loss.

Embiid was playing only his sixth game out of the 23 that Philadelphia has played. He has been bothered by swelling in his left knee and also served a three-game suspension for a physical incident with a reporter.

Embiid also has had number of face injuries, including an orbital bone fracture after a collision with Toronto’s Pascal Siakam during the 2022 playoffs and one in 2018 after colliding with teammate Markelle Fultz. Last year, Embiid had Bell’s Palsy during a first-round playoff loss to New York.

Pascal Siakam scored 23 points for Indiana, and Obi Toppin had 20. They each had eight rebounds.

Tyrese Maxey led Philadelphia with 22 points. Paul George added 15.

Cavaliers 115, Wizards 105 >> Darius Garland scored 24 points and Jarrett Allen had 21 points and 11 rebounds as the NBA-leading Cavaliers sent visiting Washington to its 18th loss in 19 games.

Donovan Mitchell scored 20 points and Garland added eight assists for Cleveland, which is 22-4 and holds a 11/2-game lead over Boston for the top record in the league. The Cavaliers, who lead the NBA in field-goal percentage, shot a season-low 39.6%.

Caris LeVert had 14 points and six assists and Isaac Okoro scored 13 points. Cleveland went 15 of 51 on 3-pointers.

Bilal Coulibaly tied his career high with 27 points and Jordan Poole scored 17 for the Wizards. Justin Champagnie had 16 points and eight rebounds as Washington fell to a league-worst 3-20.

Pacers acquire Thomas from Heat >> The Miami Heat agreed to trade Thomas Bryant to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for the right to swap second-round picks, a person with knowledge of the agreement told the AP.

The Heat will get the more favorable second-round selection, said the person, who spoke to The AP on condition of anonymity because the earliest the trade can be finalized by NBA rule is Sunday.

Bryant averaged 4.1 points in 10 games off the bench for Miami this season. Indiana will become his fifth team, after pre-Miami stints with the Washington Wizards, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.

He fills a need at backup center for Indiana, which was seeking depth behind Myles Turner.

Bryant is earning $2.1 million this season.

Hornets get reinforcements >> The struggling Charlotte Hornets got a boost in their front court, with forward Miles Bridges returning to the lineup against the Chicago Bulls late Friday night after missing 10 games because of a bruised right knee.

The 6-foot-7 Bridges had not played since a loss at Brooklyn on Nov. 19. He was averaging 16 points and 6.5 rebounds. Rookie forward Tidjane Salaun was also available after missing the previous two games because of a sprained left ankle.
