Rookie two-way guard Reece Beekman had 25 points and five steals, and the Santa Cruz Warriors beat the Salt Lake City Stars 115-108 in NBA G League action at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Friday night.

Forward Jackson Rowe finished with 18 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors (3-4), who led 63-51 at the half. Gui Santos, on assignment from Golden State, had 16 points and seven rebounds. Forward Kevin Knox II recorded his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Forwards Blake Hinson and Javan Johnson both came off the bench and combined for 28 points.

Two-way center Oscar Tshiebwe led the Stars (4-4) with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Cody Williams scored 18 points in his first assignment with the Stars, and two-way guard/forward David Jones Garcia had 20 points and six rebounds off the bench.

The teams were scheduled to square off again at KP Arena on Saturday night, after the Sentinel went to press.

Girls basketball

At Menlo 50, Watsonville 33 >> Senior Fernanda Lazo had 11 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks in the Wildcatz’s nonleague loss to the defending Central Coast Section Division IV champions in Atherton on Friday.

Junior Stephanie Martinez had eight points and four steals for Watsonville (1-1), and freshman Isabell Alvarez had eight points and three steals.

Seniors Karen Xin and Ruiqi Liu each scored 16 points to lead the Knights (2-0), who held a 31-19 advantage at the half.

The Wildcatz were scheduled to host Aptos on Saturday evening, after the Sentinel went to press.
