Shirley Jean Simpson, age 95, of Auburndale, Florida (formerly of Clarkston and Gladwin), died Sunday, March 31, 2024. Shirley was born September 13, 1928 in Pontiac to Raymond and Alice (Mabry) Tharp.

She graduated from Pontiac Central High School, class of 1946.

Shirley married James Edward Simpson June 22, 1946. Shirley’s career at Pontiac Motors spanned 3 decades – she retired in 1984. In her spare time Shirley enjoyed years of travelling with her husband Jim. Shirley and Jim loved winters in Auburndale, Florida. Above all Shirley was a loving wife and mother to her seven children. Shirley is survived by her children: Gary (Marlis) Simpson, Jimmy (Robbie) Simpson, Sharon Gorsline, Brenda Vaillancourt and Kevin (Paula) Simpson; fifteen grandchildren: Garth, Jamie Ray, Janell, Nathan, Autumn, Danielle, Brieanne, Brooke, James, Lucas, Chris, Jamie, Scott, Nancy and Beth; many great grandchildren; and her sister, Bonnie Jenkins.

She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Stephanie. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Simpson; sons: Greg and Tracy Simpson; sons-in-law: Bob Vaillancourt and Edward Gorsline; grandson, Christopher and her aforementioned parents. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes immediate cremation services have been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
