Passed away peacefully at the Episcopal Church Home in St. Paul on Wednesday, April 23. She was 97 years old. Carol was the adored matriarch of our family. Her steady love and tender listening will be missed by many.

Born September 17, 1927, Carol grew up in Ohio, graduated from Denison University (mathematics) and later, the University of Chicago (school of divinity). She married the love of her life, Glenn Bartoo, in 1950 and raised a family in Ohio and then Kentucky.

In 1970, the family moved to Minnesota, where they built a wide community.

Carol was a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) for 75 years, serving as clerk in Louisville Meeting and as a founder of Friends for a Non-Violent World in Minnesota.

She was a curious person with a playful and cheerful spirit, an open mind and heart, and aclear sense of right and wrong. She was a businesswoman, a gifted artist, a dog lover (especially cocker spaniels), an avid reader, and a wonderful friend.

She is survived by her three children Cynthia, Timothy and Paul, seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

The family and Twin Cities Friends Meeting will hold a memorial, in the manner of Friends, on Saturday, May 31, 1:30 pm, at 1725 Grand Ave.

St. Paul, the TCFM Meeting House.

Visiting and light refreshments to follow. Road construction on Grand Ave will affect parking, so plan ahead.
