Peter Lynn Sherrick, 84, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024 surrounded by family at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC. Born in Howell, MI on July 22, 1940, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Catherine Compton Sherrick.<br><br>In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Ruth Anne Mc- Fadden Sherrick.<br><br>Pete is survived by his wife of 8 years, Barbara Watson Phillips; daughters, Anne Kuhns and husband, Mark of Pikeville, NC and Barbara Knighton and husband, Keith of Fowlerville, MI; granddaughters, Karen (Daniel) McKnight, Jessica (Tim) Harrison, Sandra (Jason) Steed, Debra (Zachary) Coleman, Rebecca Kuhns; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Dowsett.<br><br>Pete graduated from South Lyon High School in 1958. He furthered his education at Lawrence Technological University, graduating in 1964 and then began his automotive engineering career with Chrysler. Pete also worked for Rockwell, Dana- Spicer, Eaton, Oldsmobile/General Motors, and finally back to Chrysler where he retired in 2010.<br><br>Serving his community was important to Pete. A life-long member of the United Methodist Church, he also supported Meals on Wheels, the Pontiac Homeless Shelter, the Avon Players, and the Elks.<br><br>A service to celebrate Pete’s life will be held at a later date in the spring at his home church in Michigan.
