Resident of Danville
Robert “Bob” Louis Bridgedale, age 93, passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2024, in his Danville, Ca home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1931 in Bismarck, North Dakota, Bob moved with his family to Homedale, Idaho during his high school years, graduating in 1951. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving for 4 years during the Korean War.
After his honorable discharge, Bob met and married his beloved wife, Peggy, with whom he shared 66 wonderful years until her passing. Together, they settled in the Bay Area, where Bob embarked on a successful career as an owner-operator for Chevron. In 1970, the family relocated to Danville, where Bob acquired Bob’s Chevron, a business he passionately managed until his retirement in 2000. Bob was a man of simple pleasures, cherishing time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and the camaraderie of Tuesday card games. He was also known for his green thumb, tending to his vegetable garden with care. Bob’s warmth and humor were often shared over a beer at Elliott’s, where he was a cherished presence.
He is survived by his daughter Carla (Greg) Bridgedale Markus, sons Lance (Hope) Bridgedale and Dirk (Christine) Bridgedale, four grandchildren, Leonora (Sean), Shane, Catherine, and Robert, and three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Johnny, and Henry. Bob also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, his parents Louis and Theresa Bridgedale, four sisters, Lois, Dorothy, Eunice, Elaine, and one brother, Eugene.
