


Sophia Everett hit a go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning as the San Rafael High softball team rallied for a 6-4 win against Analy on Friday.
The Bulldogs (3-1) scored all six runs in the seventh inning, beginning with an RBI single by Gabriella Alvarez. Everett unloaded the bases with two outs to put San Rafael ahead 5-4.
Thomara Drummer, who added an insurance double for the sixth run, pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts against six hits with four runs allowed — two of them earned.
• Marin Catholic and St. Ignatius exchanged late runs until SI brought home a 5-4 win with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh. MC (1-1) pulled within 4-3 in the sixth after an RBI groundout from Grace Berringer and an RBI single by Malliah Foster. MC tied the game on a triple by Morgan Carlson in the seventh. Foster had two hits to pace MC offensively and worked 6.1 innings with 11 hits and four earned runs in the circle.
• Eleanor Johnson struck out every batter she faced, racking up nine in three hitless innings as Terra Linda mercy-ruled San Domenico 16-0 on Friday. Katie Malas led Tl with three RBIs. Lacey Graham, Ava Law, and Mila Harding all had tbo RBIs for TL. The Trojans (4-0) had five hits but drew 10 walks and benefitted from five errors.
• Novato battled Sonoma Valley on Friday but fell 7-6 on a walk-off in the bottom of the eighth inning. Georgiana Castro and Giana Flores had two RBIs apiece for the Hornets (1-4). Novato went ahead 7-5 in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Claire Hannan. Sonoma Valley tied it with a two-out, two-run triple in the seventh then won it on a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Prep baseball
Archie Williams powered up a three-run first inning and never let up in Friday’s 10-3 road win over San Marin. The teams split their home-and-home series this week. Peregrine Falcons sophomore Solly Ojalvo had a pair of hits, including a double, and three RBIs, while junior Jake Barnes was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Kingston Weinberg had eight strikeouts across five innings as he combined with Wyatt Koenig to hold San Marin to five hits.
Senior Joey Cipollina drove in two San Marin runs.
• San Rafael scored in the bottom of the eighth for a 2-1 victory over the Branson School on Friday. Bulldogs junior Floyd Greene dealt five strikeouts with one walk and five hits across seven innings. Sophomore Mikey Giannino struck out two in one hitless inning to help lock up the win. Aedan Bardoul doubled and scored a run for San Rafael.
Spencer Weinberg doubled and scored for Branson.
Boys track
Redwood junior Marco Cleary set a personal record of 11.48 seconds to win the 100 meter Thursday as the Giants picked up a pair of wins against Branson and San Marin at College of Marin. Redwood beat San Marin 80-42 and Branson 106-15. San Marin beat Branson 58-24.
The Mustangs’ Leo Mattiuzzo won the 200 with a personal-best 23.06, just ahead of teammate Cody Urban (23.91). Urban won the high jump (5-10) and long jump (21-06). Branson’s Jasper James won the 1,600 with a PR of 4:38.17.
Girls track
Redwood sophomore Julia Bayon was a triple-event winner as the Giants beat Branson and San Marin Thursday at College of Marin. Redwood outscored Branson 81-40 and bested San Marin 110-15. Branson edged San Marin 64-33.
Bayon ran the 100 in 12.42, just ahead of San Marin’s Sicily and Gianna Grasso, who finished second and third, respectively. Bayone won the 200 in 25.74 to beat out Sicily Grasso (25.84). Bayon was also part of Redwood’s winning 4×100 relay team with Jenna Beauchamp, Iris Hawks and Annalise Horn. Horn was also a triple-winner with victories in the long jump (17-01) and triple jump (36-8.25).
Boys volleyball
Zach Wulff had a big night as Archie Williams beat San Marin, 3-0, Thursday night. Wulff registered two aces, 23 kills and 12 digs for the Peregrine Falcons, who also got four aces, a kill and 33 assists from Max Brasler. James Clark closed out the night with six service points in a row to finish with three aces and four kills.
• Owen Graham had eight kills and a pair of aces as Tam (2-0) swept Terra Linda 25-20, 25-19, 25-11 on Thursday.
• Brooks Englert had an impressive game from behind the service line to lift Novato to a 23-25, 25-21, 27-29, 26-24, 15-2 victory against San Rafael on Thursday. Englert had several aces in a key service run to open the fifth set.
Boys golf
Tam High’s golfers enjoyed the comforts of home at Mill Valley Golf Course, as the Red-tailed Hawks beat San Rafael, 170-225, on Thursday. Low medalist Ben Friedman led the Hawks at 1-under 32, followed by Hayden Thill (33), Max Berg (34), Shade Murray (35) and Eliott Dasovich (36). The Bulldogs’ Kai Payne shot a 37.
• Sophomore Yousef Abueida took medalist honors with a 40 at Meadow Club to lead Archie Williams High (2-1) to a 230-259 victory over Terra Linda. The Trojans, still looking for their first win of the season, were paced by Matty Nelson’s 48.
Boys tennis
Oliver Pool, Alexander Christfort and Shawn Bested earned singles wins as San Marin beat Novato, 6-1, on Thursday. Christfort survived a challenge from the Hornets’ Hendrix Quesenberry for a 4-6, 6-0, 10-4 win at No. 3 singles.
• Marin Catholic won a pair of closely contested matches to secure a 5-2 victory over Tam in Mill Valley on Thursday. The Wildcats’ Felix Adam rallied for a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-8 win at No. 4 singles over Nate Schrauth. Marin Catholic also got wins at Nos. 2 and 3 singles from Milo Vidyarthi and Andrew Goruyzcki, while Tam’s Witt Burger took a win at No. 1 singles. The Wildcats ‘ No. 2 doubles team of David Shepard and Toby Tobin won 7-6, 6-1.
