Colleges: Former Auburn backup QB Malik Willis will transfer to Liberty, where he will play for first-year coach Hugh Freeze. Willis will seek a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible to play next season. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Cycling: Italian rider Elia Viviani won Stage 4 of the Tour de France. Viviani stormed a bunch sprint to edge Alexander Kristoff and Caleb Ewan on the slight uphill finish of the 133-mile stage that ended in Nancy, France. It was Viviani’s first career stage victory in the Tour. Julian Alaphilippe, the first Frenchman to wear the yellow jersey in five years after his solo victory in Stage 3, maintained his overall lead of 20 seconds over second-place Wout Van Aert of Belgium.

NBA: As expected, the league’s board of governors passed the implementation of in-game challenge flags for coaches for next season. ... Free agent F Marcus Morris may abandon a recent two-year, $20 million agreement with the Spurs and accept a one-year deal with the Knicks, ESPN reported. Financial terms of the new deal weren’t available. Morris, 29, averaged 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds last season for the Celtics.

NFL: Former Lions and Texans S Glover Quin retired after 10 seasons. Quin, 33, started 156 of 159 career games and finished with 737 tackles, 24 INTs, 85 passes defended, 10 forced fumbles, four sacks and two defensive TDs. He was a Pro Bowler and a second-team All-Pro in 2014.

NHL: The Blackhawks acquired LW Alex Nylander for D Henri Jokiharju in a trade with the Sabres. Nylander, 21, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2016 draft, has three goals and three assists in just 19 career games over three seasons. Nylander’s father, Michael, played for the Hawks from 1999 to 2002. Jokiharju, the No. 29 pick in 2017, made his debut in Oct., and finished with no goals and 12 assists in 38 games. ... The Avalanche signed coach Jared Bednar to a two-year contract extension through the 2021-22 season. Financial terms of the deal weren’t available. Bednar, 47, has led the Avs to two playoff appearances in his first three seasons.

Soccer: Owner David Tepper and team president Tom Glick of the NFL’s Panthers will meet with MLS officials next week in New York to discuss the possibility of bringing an expansion team to Charlotte, N.C. ... Fortuna Dusseldorf signed U.S. goalkeeper Zack Steffen on loan from English Premier League club Manchester City for next season. Steffen, 24, began his club career in the Bundesliga before leaving for the Columbus Crew of MLS. ... The Chicago Fire will pay $65.5 million to leave their Bridgeview, Ill., stadium located just outside Chicago. The team likely will play at Soldier Field in Chicago.
