Police investigating video showing man holding onto back of bus
Regional Transportation District police started investigating a video posted to Reddit that apparently shows a man holding onto the back of a moving bus as it drives on U.S. 36 in the Boulder area.
A video was posted to the Boulder subreddit on Monday showing a man wearing dark clothing, a mask and carrying a blue bag while holding onto the back of an AB2 bus.
The Daily Camera has not verified the video.
The person who posted it on Reddit declined to comment.
RTD staff wrote in a Tuesday email that they are aware of a video circulating online showing extremely unsafe behavior.
“Customers are required to safely use RTD vehicles and prioritize safety whenever they are on RTD property for the safety and well-being of themselves and others,” RTD spokeswoman Tara Broghammer wrote.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Police Department and Colorado State Patrol all confirmed that they did not receive any reports or calls for service about the incident.
ERIE
$250,000 awarded for Schofield Big Barn
The town of Erie announced the Parks and Recreation Department has been awarded $250,000 from the History Colorado State Historical Fund, bringing the total grant funding for the Schofield site to about $1.6 million, according to a town of Erie newsletter.
The award money is expected to rehabilitate the exterior of the Schofield Big Barn, according to the newsletter.
The Big Barn is the most iconic and largest structure on the property and was constructed around 1905 using pre-cast blocks, the newsletter said.
“Once complete, the barn will serve as a central gathering space for events, meetings, and interpretation — celebrating Erie’s agricultural roots and benefiting the entire community,” the newsletter said.
‘Shoofly’ construction to play role in Austin Avenue roundabout project
Crews were to begin constructing a temporary detour road, called a shoofly, on the west side of County Line Road this week to aid traffic during roundabout construction at Austin Avenue, according to a town of Erie newsletter.
The bypass will allow traffic to flow around the intersection during roundabout construction.
The shoofly detour is expected to take effect Friday morning, weather permitting.
A reduced 30-mph speed limit will be enforced throughout the project corridor to maintain safety in the construction zone.
