A Tinley Park man has been charged with two felonies after barricading himself and two women inside his home for nearly 17 hours on Halloween, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Sunday.
Officers arrived at 54-year-old Jason Soltis’ home on the 17900 block of South Harlem Avenue shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday but did not gain entry until after 3:30 a.m. Friday.
Officers heard a single gunshot before entering the home, but neither woman was shot. One was bound at the ankles and the wrists and the other appeared unharmed. Both were transported to a hospital for medical evaluations.
Prosecutors said in court filings one of the women was bound during the time, and that Soltis fire the shot at the door when police arrived.
Soltis, who was charged with aggravated kidnapping with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm, was ordered held in custody Sunday during an initial appearance at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, but is scheduled back in court on Tuesday.
