Resident of Brentwood

It is with a profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila June Sparacino, 72, a nurturing, caring wife, mother, friend, and a wonderful (Gaga) grandmother.

Sheila passed away at home with her husband and family by her side.

Sheila was born in Beaumont, Texas and lived the majority of her life in Fremont, California until retiring to Brentwood, California. Sheila and her husband, Dennis, met at their kids' child care and spent 41 years together raising a “blended family” and building a life together.

She was a loving, devoted partner who tirelessly took care of her family and home. She leaves alegacy of loving memories for her sons, daughter in law, grandchildren, sisters, sister in law, and nieces and nephews.

Family was very important to Sheila and she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them.

Sheila loved to travel, having traveled extensively around the world when younger, but more recently, to visit family and friends. She enjoyed reading, streaming British television series, yoga, walking, gardening, Phil Collins, and took pride in maintaining and cleaning her home. True to southern roots Sheila loved to visit with neighbors and friends. She cared about people and was the first to offer akind word or ahelping hand. Sheila truly loved babies and never got tired of holding them and nurturing them. She was born to be a mother, a grandmother, and Auntie Sheila. Roles she filled with an amazing amount of love and happiness.

While living in Brentwood, Sheila was blessed with finding aspecial place to devote her time and energy to the East Contra Costa Historical Society. She volunteered there for almost 15 years as a docent, caring for the grounds and gardens, and as the lead caretaker for the historic Byer-Nail house. She became a 2nd Vice President and enjoyed supporting the society’s many programs and activities. But mostly, she developed many close friends and found a“second home” as she used to describe volunteering there.

Sheila’s greatest joy in life was being Gaga to her beloved grandchildren. For over 17 years they added purpose and meaning to her life. She loved being involved in their lives and was happiest when she was spending time with them. She was their greatest cheerleader and supporter. Her love was truly unconditional. Her last message was sent to them and read, “you are the light of my life and I love you. I’ll love you forever.” There was no greater love than the love she had for her “babies”.

Sheila had a loving, nurturing and giving nature, and a beautiful smile. She will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

Sheila’s life was celebrated privately by family and friends. Should you wish to do so, donations can be made in Sheila’s name to the East Contra Costa Historical Society, PO Box 202, Brentwood, California 94513.
