Missouri receiver Luther Burden scored on a 61-yard jet sweep less than a minute into the game, and the 21st-ranked Tigers went on to beat Massachusetts 45-3 on Saturday.

Missouri (5-1) rebounded from its 41-10 loss at Texas A&M last week with a resounding victory over the Football Bowl Subdivision independent. UMass (1-6) lost its third straight game.

Brady Cook completed 14 of 19 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns in three quarters and gave way to Drew Pyne to start the fourth. Marcus Carroll rushed for 91 yards on 13 carries with three touchdowns.

The Tigers, who entered the game ranked 15th nationally in total defense, limited UMass to 237 yards and 13 first downs.

Burden’s long scoring run on the second play from scrimmage was his second rushing TD of the season. Carroll scored on runs of 3 and 4 yards to make it 21-0 early in the second quarter.

UMass got on the board with Jacob Lurie’s 28-yard field goal. The Minutemen threatened late in the first half, driving to the Missouri 7 before linebacker Corey Flagg Jr. intercepted Taisun Phommachanh’s pass over the middle. The Tigers went up 24-3 on Blake Craig’s 43-yard field goal on the final play of the half.

Carroll’s third touchdown came on a 35-yard run in the third quarter, and Cook followed with TD passes of 63 yards to Joshua Manning and 8 yards to Brett Norfleet.

Phommachanh was 12 of 22 for 132 yards and an interception, and Te’Rai Powell was the Minutemen’s leading rusher with 39 yards on one carry. UMass managed just 95 yards on 31 rushes.

Haynes scampers 68 yards in final minute, lifting Georgia Tech over UNC: Jamal Haynes ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns, including a go-ahead 68-yard score in the final minute, as Georgia Tech stunned North Carolina 41-34 on Saturday at Kenan Stadium.

Haynes’ second score came with 16 seconds left, just two plays after North Carolina had tied it on a Noah Burnette 26-yard field goal.

The Yellow Jackets’ read-option offense mustered 505 total yards, including 371 rushing. In addition to Haynes, quarterback Haynes King also had a big day with a season-high 107 yards and two scores on the ground.

North Carolina pulled within 34-31 with 3:27 left on a 1-yard run by Jacolby Criswell, his second touchdown of the day and Burnette’s field goal tied it with 44 seconds remaining. However, it was all for naught as North Carolina’s much-maligned defense broke down one final time.

Walker runs for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns as Wisconsin embarrasses Rutgers: Tawee Walker ran for a career-best 198 yards and scored three touchdowns and Wisconsin dominated on both sides of the ball for the second straight week in posting a 42-7 victory over Rutgers on Saturday.

Braedyn Locke threw for 240 yards and a touchdown, and ran for another late as the Badgers (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) remained unbeaten against Rutgers (4-2, 1-2) in six meetings and handed the Scarlet Knights their second straight loss.

Walker, who previous career high was 146 against Kansas last season, scored on runs of 2, 9 and 55 yards, the last one being the longest of his career and the team’s longest rush of the season. He has eight touchdowns in the last three games. Darrion Dupree also had a 2-yard TD run as the Badgers outgained Rutgers 549-271.

Skattebo runs for 156 yards and 2 TDs, Arizona State knocks off Utah: Kenny Dillingham screamed through an adrenaline-fueled interview and got caught up in a student mosh pit.

The sea of humanity enveloping him, the Arizona State coach and alum joined in, jumping and shouting with the students after Arizona State’s 27-19 victory over No. 16 Utah on Friday night.

“I was one of these guys! I was doing this!” Dillingham said, bouncing with the crowd before disappearing.

A year after suffering through an injury-plagued, 3-9 first season, Dillingham’s Sun Devils have already made their mark in the Big 12.

Arizona State (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) is off to its best start since opening the 2019 season 5-1 and notched its biggest victory under Dillingham despite losing quarterback Sam Leavitt for most of the second quarter.

Cam Skattebo had a lot to do with it.

The bulldozing running back punished the Utes all night, finishing with 158 yards and two touchdowns.

In the third quarter, Skattebo broke several tackles, put his hand down to keep his balance and stiff-armed another tackler for a 50-yard touchdown run. Skattebo put the game all but out of reach in the fourth quarter, breaking a tackle then outrunning Utah’s defense for a 47-yard touchdown dash.

“We beat the No. 16 team in the country,” Skattebo said. “Who says we can’t beat anybody else?”
