COSTA MESA >> It wasn’t as if Joey Bosa was the Chargers’ only pass-rushing threat last season, but it had been since 2018 that he had been paired with someone with the same sort of ferocious, tenacious drive to sack opposing quarterbacks as he might have now with the addition of Khalil Mack.

Bosa and Melvin Ingram were selected to the Pro Bowl in 2018, forming a dynamic pair of edge rushers capable of tormenting opposing offenses. Bosa continued to perform at a Pro Bowl-caliber level for the ensuing seasons. But Ingram, now with the Miami Dolphins, moved on last year.

Chargers general manager Tom Telesco filled the void opposite of Bosa by acquiring Mack from the Chicago Bears in the offseason. Bosa and Mack bonded almost immediately, vowing to exchange videos of their past seasons in order to learn from each other and offer advice and counsel.

“We’re together all practice, talking football the whole time,” Bosa said after Day 2 of training camp Thursday at Jack Hammett Sports Complex. “We have complementary styles, I think. We rush quite differently, so we can both learn a lot from each other. Obviously, it’s a big addition to have.”
