Diana Johnson

Resident of Danville Diana Johnson loving Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Cousin and Aunt passed away at home with family at her side in the early morning hours of January 31st after having battled Alzheimer’s for several years. She is survived by her husband of 36 years Phillip Johnson, son Billy DeLong and wife Candyce of San Leandro, Ca.
Daughter Holly Barger and husband Micheal of Livermore, Ca. Grandson Justin Vance also of Livermore.
Son Aaron Johnson of Danville, Ca. Brother Larry (Chick) Ginn and his partner Nicki Martinez of Murphy’s, Ca. Sister Karen Tangney and husband Barry of Encinitas, Ca.
Brother Lee Ginn of Danville, Ca. Sister-in-law Debbie Ginn of Danville, Ca., and many Cousins, Nieces and Nephews all whom she loved dearly. Diana was preceded in death by her parents LeRoyce (Sloe) and Donna Ginn, and Brother Daniel (Danny) Ginn.
Diana was first and foremost a mother whose life revolved around her children. Loving nothing more than to be there supporting them no matter what was going on (good or bad.) Growing up in San Leandro Diana had alarge family support group of her own asshe lived back to back with her fathers twin brother Leroy (Dry) Ginn and his wife Pat along with her seven cousins Suzie, Kathy, Leroy, Dede, Jeanice, Janice and Lori. As her father Sloe would say “the Ginn Klan.”
After graduating from Marina High School in San Leandro she attended Chabot College for a time until she became employed at Diablo Systems in Hayward, Ca. and for a short time for her father at Automatic Controls Engineering in San Francisco, Ca. Then moving on to James and Associates in Oakland, Ca. where she became their Office Manager.
Prior to starting her family Diana traveled to Europe with her sister Karen, learned and became active in scuba diving and in general enjoying life with family and friends.
After moving to Danville, Ca, in 1998, Diana, who loved working with children became involved with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. First as a Cafeteria worker, then as a Para-educator at Green Valley Elementary until her retirement in 2016.
Diana always enjoyed getting together with family or friends and playing Bunko. Diana was always loving, sweet, kind, generous, quick to laugh and never judgmental.
She will be missed by family and friends but knowing she is with her family in the care of our Lord will allow us to carry her memory in our hearts. Special thanks to niece Kelly Ginn-Baier for helping her Aunt through the end of her journey. To Elizabeth Kieth who helped Diana with her day to day needs and companionship for the last year and a half. To Brianna Norris her Hospice nurse who was so caring and thoughtful during Diana’s Hospice time and end of life transition. Celebration of Life to be held May 17th, 2025 @3:00 pm, Oak Hill Park Community Center, 3005 Stone Valley Road, Danville, Ca.
