ALLEN PARK >> The Detroit Lions likely will be without their top three options at defensive end in Sunday’s home game against the Tennessee Titans.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell on Friday said defensive end Josh Paschal, who missed Wednesday and Thursday’s practice with an illness, likely was to miss again on Friday, which puts him in serious jeopardy for Sunday’s game.

The Lions are already without edge rushers Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport.

Campbell didn’t specify Paschal’s illness but said he’s “dealing with something right now.”

“He’ll be OK long term, but he’s got a little bit of something,” Campbell said. “So, I don’t see him practicing.”

The update in injury status means defensive end Isaiah Thomas, who was signed off the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad last week, will get his first look in live action.

“Yes, we will use Isaiah,” Campbell said. “He’s done enough during the week to want to get him out there and get him some reps. He’s in a good place and we’re excited to see him play. … He’s got length, he’s got size, strength, he’s smart and he plays hard. So, it’ll be exciting to see how he does.”

Campbell said he also anticipates getting help from at edge rusher from Al-Quadin Muhammad, a current practice squader, and James Houston.

“They have to help and that’s where it goes but as always, we spread the load across that D-line with Levi (Onwuzurike), (Alim McNeill) and (DJ) Reader and (Mekhi) Wingo and (Pat) O’Connor, so we have plenty in there and they pick up the slack,” Campbell said.

On Muhammad, Campbell said he’s a “guy playing the game with some nastiness and aggressiveness, strength. He’s going to set an edge, he’s going to play hard, he is competitive, he’s a finisher, and he’s got a little bit of rush ability. He’s more of a kind of push the pocket power, and then plays off that.”
