AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Marcus M. McFall, 36, Chicago, was charged June 20 with aggravated battery to a police officer, felony retail theft and resisting arrest, police said. McFall was initially arrested June 19 during a retail theft investigation that began at a department store in the 7600 block of Lacrosse Avenue and included a five-block chase to Ford City Mall in Chicago, police said. He escaped despite being use of a Taser while kicking and elbowing an officer, but was taken into custody June 20, police said.
DEALING ALLEGED: Derek A. Klein, 36, 8700 block of Kolmar Avenue, Hometown, was arrested June 20 and accused of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance after officers recovered 4 ½ grams of suspected crack cocaine from the car dashboard, a spoon coated with suspected cocaine, a digital scale, three pipes associated with drug use, an open box of baking soda and wire mesh during a stop in the 8500 block of Cicero Avenue, police said.
Homewood
GUN POSSESSION: Bryce Burrell, 18, of the 19000 block of Marylake Lane, Country Club Hills, was arrested June 13 and accused of unlawfully possessing a weapon after officers recovered a handgun from his waistband in the 18000 block of Halsted Street, police said. Illinois residents must be at least 21 to qualify for a state gun permit.
Monee
SLOT THEFT: Andrew D. Menias, 43, 5300 block of Yale Lane, Matteson, and Nicole M. Wetzel, 43, Hammond, Indiana, were charged with felony theft and felony criminal damage to property in connection with the April 18 theft of $11,000 from electronic slot machines at a truck stop at Interstate 57 and Monee-Manhattan Road, according to police and Will County court records online. Menias is also charged with burglary in connection with the theft, which caused more than $2,000 damage, police said.
New Lenox
FORGERY: Dawuana O. Jackson, 36, Gary, Indiana, was arrested June 28 on a no-bond warrant charging her with forgery and felony theft, stemming from a check deposited into her bank account in August 2023 that had been taken from a business, altered and changed to make her the payee, according to police and Will County court records online.
Oak Lawn
REGISTRATION FAILURE: Kolawole S. Omotade, 26, 9100 block of Mayfield Avenue, Oak Lawn, was arrested June 11 in that block and charged with failing to register as a sex offender, police said. Omotade was convicted in Cook County court of criminal sexual abuse/force against a 17-year-old when he was 21, according to the Illinois State Police sex offender registry online.
BURGLARY CHARGE: Enrique Raya, 28, of the 8000 block of Thomas Avenue, Oak Lawn, was arrested July 1 and subsequently charged with burglary, attempted residential burglary and felony motor vehicle burglary, police said. Officers apprehended Raya after he broke a residential window in the 6700 block of 87th Place, leaving behind evidence from a vehicle break-in, police said.
Orland Park
GUN POSSESSION: Javon M. Cox, 26, Gary, Indiana, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon June 6 after officers recovered an uncased, easily accessible loaded 10 mm handgun equipped with a mounted light and magazine in his car in an Orland Square mall parking lot and determined he lacked a gun permit, police said. Officers were responding to the odor of suspected burning marijuana, police said.
ARMED CRIMINAL: Genaro Galindo, 30, 2500 block of Indiana Avenue, Lansing, was arrested June 12 and subsequently charged with being an armed habitual criminal, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/felon and possession of a controlled substance after officers recovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun, two loaded magazines and one gram of suspected cocaine from a car he parked in an Orland Square lot, police said.
Palos Hills
ASSAULT ALLEGED: Scott F. Taylor, 60, 8000 block of 100th Street, Palos Hills, was arrested June 24 on a warrant accusing him of sexual assault and unlawful restraint in September 2023 in that block, police said.
Park Forest
GUN POSSESSION: Carletta T. Swanigan, 32, 2000 block of 316th Street, Sauk Village, was arrested June 5 and subsequently charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, driving on a suspended license and speeding after officers recovered an uncased and accessible .22 caliber handgun with a loaded magazine in the 100 block of Monee Road and determined she lacked a gun permit, police said.
Thornton
MAN SHOT: A man was transported to a hospital June 30 for treatment of a gunshot wound in the upper thigh, police said. Officers responding at about 9:10 a.m. at Margaret and Schwab streets encountered the victim inside a vehicle and applied a tourniquet, police said.
Will County
FELONY THREAT: Joseph F. Vavrick IV, 59, 200 block of Farrell Road, Lockport Heights, was arrested June 24 on a warrant charging him with threatening a public official and phone harassment, according to Will County court records online. The charge stems from a May 22 voicemail left for a doctor at the Will County Health Center, a sheriff’s spokesperson said.
BOTTLE ARREST: Ahmad A. Elabed, 56, 20200 block of Fairwood Court, Frankfort Square, was arrested June 27 in that block and accused of aggravated domestic battery after hitting two people, sheriff’s police said.
