Santa Cruz

Peggy passed peacefully on Feb. 11, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born March 26, 1928 in Salinas, she was a mother, grandmother and a great-grandmother.

Peggy was raised in Petaluma by her grandmother, Cora Tynan, and as a young lady, went off to San Francisco with her best friend to weld battleships during WWII.

She taught dancing in San Francisco after the war, and attend San Francisco State college, where she met her husband, Frank Mansfield.

She was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Santa Cruz Women's Club, the Red Hat Society and was a docent at the Santa Cruz Marine Mammal Center for many years. She collected basketfuls of gifts and toiletries for delivery to the Veterans Hospital at Christmas for many years.

Peggy loved life, traveling, parties, the ocean, her family, dancing, all of her many friends and her special friend, Ed Rampone. She bought a house on the beach and lived there happily for over 40 years.

She is survived by her son and daughter, 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She will remain in our thoughts and hearts always. May she go on dancing in heaven forever!

A small family service will be held in early March.
