Resident of San Jose

Janice Catherine O'Brien (nee Frost), a descendant of two pioneer farming families in Santa Clara County, died under nurses’ care on Feb. 2, 2025, just two weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Janice was born in San Jose and lived over 90 years at the family ranch in Berryessa. She was a graduate of Berryessa Grade School and Notre Dame High School. She was an accomplished pianist, fabulous cook and avid cat rescuer. She will be remembered as a hard-working cannery worker in the valley’s agricultural hey-days. She was a loving homemaker and devoted caregiver for many family members.

Janice was predeceased by her parents, Clyde R. Frost and Cleo L. Vennum, and siblings Neal, Allan and Joyce.

Her husband of 64 years, Frank J. O’Brien, passed away in 2007. She leaves behind two sons, seven grandchildren and a multitude of family members and friends.

Visitation on 2/16 from 4-6 pm at Darling & Fischer Garden Chapel. Funeral Mass will be on 2/17 at 12:00 pm at St. Victor Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
