David William McCarthy, 69, of Colorado, passed away on October 12, 2023, with his family by his side.

Born to Joseph Howard McCarthy Jr. and Henriette (Neubuerger) McCarthy, David grew up in the quintessential 1950s-1960s outdoor lifestyle of Golden, Colorado alongside his siblings. His love of skiing drew him to Georgetown, Colorado in early adulthood where he became a ski patrolman at Loveland Ski Area in addition to volunteer fire fighter, EMT, bartender, and heavy equipment operator in support of the Eisenhower Tunnel project. Here he fell in love with Rosemarie (Rosie) Laurita: they married in 1977.

David and Rosie shared their life together in the Denver metro area where he began selling real estate. Two daughters, Courtney and Katherine, arrived in the 1980s: a family of 4 with an unbreakable bond that underpinned and motivated David’s life. One of David’s greatest joys was coaching his daughters’ swim team - the Smokey Hill Sharks - where all kids were taught to be kind, caring, hardworking, humble, and respectful of others: all these lessons taught while ensuring fun was at the core of every practice and competition.

David had a remarkable career in the real estate industry: real estate broker, founder and operator of 5 companies, and a nationally-renowned speaker, educator, and authority for his expertise in the institutionally-owned real estate sector. Retirement didn’t last long: his enthusiasm, leadership, and mentoring qualities supported an endless parade of people seeking his guidance and problem-solving abilities. He helped all who needed him.

Immeasurably missed by his family and friends, we are grateful for the everlasting, positive impact that he had on the lives of many. A service for David is imminent: read the full obituary and pay tribute to David at www.HoranCares.com/obituaries.
