Five teams from the Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley school districts moved within a win of clinching a league title in Week 8 of the football season.

Monarch and Frederick will meet on Friday to decide the 4A North 1 League champion. Broomfield, Erie and Fairview can clinch theirs with a Week 9 win.

In Week 8, teams from the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont areas went 10-6 through Friday’s games.

Thursday

Mead 57, Greeley Central 6: The Mavericks (7-0, 2-0 3A North 2) remained undefeated with their fourth 30-plus-point win of the season.

Quarterback Christian Hiner threw for two touchdowns and ran in another in the win, while Noah Chapala needed just six carries to rack up 127 yards and two scores.

Spencer Muncy had a rushing TD and recorded a safety.

Mead is at Northridge on Oct. 26.

Frederick 49, Poudre 6: Quarterback Gavin Ishmael returned from injury as the Golden Eagles (6-2, 3-0 4A North 1) won their sixth straight game.

Ishmael was sidelined after his team’s first offensive possession last week against Silver Creek, sustaining a shoulder injury as he landed funny on a touchdown run. He came back strong, throwing for 326 yards and six TDs. He also had a rushing TD, giving him 32 total scores (23 passing, nine rushing) on the year.

Jeezrel Palma had six catches for 127 yards and three TDs.

Frederick is home against Monarch on Friday.

Boulder 17, Northglenn 14: The Panthers rallied from 14 points down in the fourth quarter, winning on Asher Baruch’s 27-yard field goal in overtime.

Quarterback Henry Sharpe threw and ran for a touchdown in the final 9:50 of regulation to bring the Panthers (4-4, 3-0 5A Metro North) back. They blocked field goals at the end of regulation and on Northglenn’s first OT possession to set up Baruch.

Boulder is at Overland on Oct. 25.

Holy Family 49, Kennedy 0: Quarterback Monte Samaras had three touchdowns, and Jeremiah Stevens returned an interception for a score in the win.

The Tigers (4-3, 2-0 3A Metro) are at Lutheran on Friday. They beat the Lions twice last year, including 33-8 in the 3A championship game.

Grand Junction 42, Centaurus 22: Quarterback Halas Wise threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

The Warriors (4-4, 1-2 4A I-25) are at Sand Creek on Friday.

Loveland 34, Silver Creek 0: The last time the Raptors were shut out was 2018.

It was also against Loveland.

Silver Creek (4-4, 1-2 4A North 1) is home against Poudre on Friday.

Clear Creek 47, Lyons 14: Lyons (1-6, 1-2 A-8 Central) will look to get on track at home against Gilpin County on Friday.

The Lions have beaten the Eagles 62-0 in each of the past two seasons.

Timnath 44, Niwot 0: The Cougars (0-7, 0-2 3A North 2) have three more chances to avoid their first winless season since 2017.

On Friday, they’re at Greeley Central, a team they’ve beaten the past three seasons.

Friday

Fairview 35, Brighton 7: Jordan Rechel had three rushing touchdowns, giving him 18 scores on the season.

Rechel now has 11 rushing TDs to go along with five receiving scores, one pick-six and one TD on a kick return. He had 30 total TDs a year ago to lead 5A.

The Knights (8-0, 3-0 Front Range North) can win their league title with a home win against Fossil Ridge on Friday.

Erie 48, Mullen 13: Cyler Campbell had two interceptions, returning one for a score, as the Tigers (6-2, 3-0 Front Range South) won their fifth straight game.

Braylon Toliver also had a pick-six and Dylan Firebaugh added another interception. Ronin Ward had three rushing touchdowns, while Carson Hageman ran in two.

The Tigers can win league with a home win over Legacy on Thursday.

Broomfield 42, Grand Junction Central 0: The Eagles (7-1, 3-0 4A North 2) aren’t just playing strong against league teams this season. They’re relenting nothing.

Broomfield has shut out its first three league opponents 162-0 going into Friday’s game against Riverdale Ridge.

Legacy 41, Rangeview 3: Andrew Gardner threw for three touchdowns and ran in another as Legacy (3-5, 2-1 Front Range South) snapped a two-game slide.

Gardner ended his night with 184 yards through the air and 96 on the ground. Tyler Anderson had 107 yards and a score, while Joey Vaughan had three sacks and four tackles for loss.

The Lightning need a win against Erie on Thursday to stay alive in their league race.

Monarch 53, Greeley West 0: The Coyotes (6-2, 3-0 4A North 1) won their third straight game with their second shutout of the year.

They’ll play for their league title at Frederick on Friday.

Longmont 48, Skyline 28: Freshman Jacob Foot had 278 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Joey Foot had 142 and two scores.

Servando Morales threw for two touchdowns and ran for 172 yards and another score in the loss.

Skyline (0-8, 0-3 4A North 2) is at Adams City on Thursday. Longmont (2-6, 1-2 4A North 2) is at Grand Junction Central on Friday.

Denver Christian 51, Prospect Ridge 20: The Miners (4-4, 1-2 1A Frontier League) will finish the regular season at home against Flatirons Academy on Nov. 2.

A week ago, they got touchdowns from four different players in a 27-26 win over Platte Canyon.
