It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne “Vonnie” Mary Hawkins (Perry), who left us on April 4th, 2025, at the age of 77 surrounded by her loving family in her final moments after battling cancer. Vonnie was born on April 3rd, 1948, in St. Paul, MN to Robert and Harriet Perry (Coveny).

She graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in 1966 and considered herself a proud “Bernie Bulldog”.

Upon graduation she worked in the Admissions and Management Center at St. Thomas University. Vonnie worked for many years at Bethesda Hospital and Woodbury Senior Villa.

She retired from Delta Airlines.

Married for 54 years, Vonnie was a loving wife and mother of three. She loved a night out dancing to crooner music with her husband. Vonnie was a woman of immense love and kindness who cherished time spent with her loved ones. She was a “flower aficionado” and found joy in every petal. She was creative, artistic, loved to travel and had a passion for decorating. She celebrated the daily joys of life by making them special with her own style –from setting the table with vintage brass taper candle holders to crocheting a beautiful blanket for her grandchildren or sending a thoughtful handwritten card. To commemorate her incredible journey and to celebrate the love she spread, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis on Thursday April 10th. Visitation at 11am, Funeral Mass at noon and luncheon to follow. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman. Vonnie is survived by her husband, Michael Hawkins; Children, Chris Hawkins (Christine), Melissa Reineke (Mike) and Andrew Hawkins (Elise); Parents (deceased) Robert and Harriet Perry, Siblings; Kit (Catherine) Kirlin, Debbie Peterson and Mike Perry; Grandchildren; Mackenzie Hawkins, Audrie Hawkins, Crosbie Hawkins and Kieran Hawkins. Survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
