Jalen Brunson had 42 points and 10 assists, breaking a tie with Carmelo Anthony for third on the franchise list with his 18th 40-point game with the Knicks, and the host New York Knicks beat the Houston Rockets 124-118 on Monday night.
Brunson scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to bring the Knicks back in a game they trailed by 11 after three. He ended up with his 12th game with at least 30 points and 10 assists since coming to New York, passing Hall of Famer Richie Guerin for most in franchise history.
Amen Thompson had 25 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in his third career triple-double for the Rockets, who have lost three in a row for the first time all season.
THUNDER 125, BUCKS 96: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 34 points in 22 minutes and host Oklahoma City routed short-handed Milwaukee.
The Bucks were without injured stars Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton, turning what could have been an exciting rematch of the NBA Cup final that Milwaukee won into a blowout.
Ryan Rollins led the Bucks with 16 points.
KINGS 116, TIMBERWOLVES 114: DeMar DeRozan scored 33 points and visiting Sacramento edged Minnesota after finalizing its trade for Zach LaVine.
The Kings traded De’Aaron Fox to San Antonio as part of a three-team trade that put LaVine on the Kings. LaVine likely will play in his first game with his new team on Wednesday.
Naz Reid the Timberwolves with a season-high 30 points, including 16 in the first quarter. Jaden McDaniels added 22 points.
HAWKS 132, PISTONS 130: Trae Young made a 23-foot fadeaway with 1.6 seconds left and scored 17 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter, lifting visiting Atlanta to a win over Detroit. Young helped the Hawks end an eight-game losing streak.
Cade Cunningham had 30 points and 14 assists for the Pistons.
WIZARDS 124, HORNETS 114: Bilal Coulibaly had 26 points, Corey Kispert scored 25 off the bench on five 3-pointers and visiting Washington handed Charlotte its fifth straight loss. The Wizards have won two straight since snapping a 16-game losing streak.
Miles Bridges had his first career triple-double for the Hornets, finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
GRIZZLIES 128, SPURS 109: Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 31 points, GG Jackson added a season-high 27 and host Memphis defeated San Antonio.
Ja Morant finished with 25 points and 11 assists as the Grizzlies won their ninth in the past 10 games. Memphis is 1 1/2 game ahead of the Houston Rockets for second place in the West.
Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with 27 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.
The start of the game was delayed 45 minutes by a medical emergency to a courtside spectator.
NUGGETS 125, PELICANS 113: Michael Porter Jr. scored a season-high 36 points, Nikola Jokic added 27 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists and host Denver overcame a career-high 41 points from Trey Murphy III to defeat New Orleans.
Jamal Murray had 20 points and eight assists while Julian Strawther scored 15 points off the bench for the Nuggets.
The triple-double was Jokic’s NBA-best 23rd of the season and ninth in his past 11 games.
PACERS 112, JAZZ 111: Pascal Siakam scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter to help visiting Indiana beat Utah for its fourth straight win.
Tyrese Haliburton scored 18 for the Pacers.
John Collins and Jordan Clarkson both scored 21 for the Jazz (11-37), who have dropped nine of 10.
WARRIORS 104, MAGIC 99: Andrew Wiggins scored 25 points and Steph Curry added 24, leading host Golden State to a win over Orlando Magic.
Wiggins shot 7 of 14, made 10 free throws and passed Hall of Famer Chris Mullin to take seventh place on the Warriors’ career list for 3-pointers.
Cole Anthony had 26 points and five rebounds for the Magic.
