Dot Fleming passed away on September 1st, 2024 in her home of over 76 years- the house she built with her late husband, Howard (Bud) Fleming. She began her life in Wilsonville, Nebraska and came to California during the Depression. After graduating from San Jose State and working to support the war effort, Dot married Bud and they enjoyed a 66 year marriage. Once the kids got older, she began teaching home economics at James Lick and Oak Grove High Schools. After retirement, Dot traveled with Bud, enjoyed sewing, cooking, genealogy research, volunteering with History SJ, and delighted in her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Bud and her eldest son, Eugene, and is survived by her children, Jerry Fleming (Dale) and Patricia Lucas (Jon). Many thanks to her loving caregivers of 7 years, Lerma and Nora. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to History San Jose or the Alzheimer’s Association.
