George Clooney has been sneaking outside to smoke.

Not like his friend Barack Obama used to, when he was running for president and his wife, Michelle, was after him to quit. Clooney doesn’t even like smoking.

“I had to get better at inhaling,” he said. “I go outside so the kids don’t see and smoke a little bit.” He plans to switch to herbal cigarettes when he makes his Broadway debut next month in a stage adaptation of his 2005 movie, “Good Night, and Good Luck.”

Smoking has been unpleasant, he said, because in his Kentucky clan “eight uncles and aunts all died of lung cancer — it’s a big deal.” He noted that his aunt Rosemary Clooney, the torch singer and movie star, was 74 when she died in 2002 from complications of lung cancer. “My dad’s the only one that didn’t smoke, and he’s 91.”

Unlike in the film, where he took on the nonsmoking role of Fred Friendly, producer of CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow, on Broadway Clooney will play Murrow, who had a three-pack-a-day habit and died in 1965 at the age of 57 of complications from lung cancer.

Murrow was one of the first to report on links between smoking and lung cancer on his show, “See It Now.”

Alec Baldwin diagnosed with PTSD after shooting

Alec Baldwin is opening up about the “surreal” experience of misfiring a prop gun and fatally shooting cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the 2021 set of “Rust,” and the tragedy’s impact on the actor.

The 66-year-old Emmy winner whose involuntary manslaughter case was dismissed last summer revealed in the upcoming premiere of TLC’s “The Baldwins” that sometimes he “can’t get up” and is now “happier when I’m asleep than when I’m awake,” according to People. “Everyone who is close to Alec has seen his mental health decline,” said wife Hilaria, with whom the actor shares seven children aged 2 to 11.

That includes exacerbated obsessive compulsive disorder and a diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder, according to the 41-year-old yoga instructor. “He says in his darkest moments, ‘If an accident had to have happened this day, why am I still here? ” shared Hilaria.

Baldwin shares in the episode premiering Sunday on TLC and then streaming on Max that he has come to the realization they have seven children together “to help carry me and you through this situation.”

On Oct. 21, 2021, while on the set of the Western “Rust,” which starred and was produced by Baldwin, the actor misfired a prop weapon which mysteriously contained live rounds. The shooting fatally wounded 42-year-old Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.
