Boulder Creek native Pat Burrell, 48, a two-time World Series champion now in his second season as the San Francisco Giants’ hitting coach, was presented his Wall of Fame ring on Wednesday by the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Phillies didn’t give out WOF rings at the time of Burrell’s induction in 2015.
Phillies principal owner John Middleton presented the longtime outfielder with his new hand bling during a pregame ceremony, which included a video tribute for the slugger, nicknamed “Pat the bat.” The Giants went on to beat the Phillies 11-4.
Burrell, Philadelphia’s No. 1 pick out of the University of Miami in the 1998 MLB Draft, played nine of his 12 seasons in MLB with the Phillies. He’s a two-time World Series champion, having won titles with the Phillies in 2008 and Giants in ’10.
He finished his career with a .253 batting average and 292 home runs, and is fourth on the Phillies’ all-time career home runs list with 251. He also hit 16 homers with the Tampa Bay Rays and 25 with the Giants.
Burrell prepped at San Lorenzo Valley High in Felton for one year before attending Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose for his final three years.
