


Left-hander Kyle Hart has signed a one-year contact with the San Diego Padres after one season in the Korean Baseball Organization, where he was selected as the league’s top pitcher.
The Padres announced Thursday the signing of the 32-year-old Hart to a deal for this season that includes a club option for 2026.
Hart won the Choi Dong-won Award in the KBO last season after leading the league with 182 strikeouts. He was 13-3 with a 2.69 ERA in 26 starts, ranking second in the league for wins and ERA. He walked only 38 of his 631 batters over 158 innings.
Barlow, Reds come to terms on 1-year contract
Reliever Scott Barlow and the Cincinnati Reds agreed to a one-year contract that includes a club option for 2026.
Cincinnati announced the deal on Thursday. Right-hander Julian Aguiar, expected to miss the entire season while recovering from Tommy John surgery last October, was placed on the 60-day injured list.
Barlow has pitched in 365 big league games, all in relief, over the past seven seasons. He has a 23-21 career record and 58 saves with a 3.49 ERA, and 461 strikeouts in 387 innings.
PALLANTE BEATS CARDINALS IN ARBITRAtION
Right-hander Andre Pallante defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in salary arbitration on Thursday and will earn $2.1 million instead of the team’s $1,925,000 offer. Arbitrators Walt De Treux, Paul Radvany and Brian Keller made the decision one day after hearing arguments.
Pallante, 26, eligible for arbitration for the first time, was 8-8 with a 3.78 ERA in 20 starts and nine relief appearances last year. He earned $756,900. He’s 18-14 with a 3.78 ERA in three big league seasons.
