With sadness and despair, we announce the passing of Diana Rose Tookmanian on December 28, 2024. Diana was the first born daughter of Melky and Rose Tookmanian at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. She was an amazing woman who graduated from Blair High School and Pasadena City College with an Associate of Arts degree in Home Economics and continued her education at Cal State L.A., earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in the same genre. Diana became very passionate about Real Estate and became an accomplished Real Estate Agent and then Broker. She opened her own office in Pasadena and was a very successful business woman for many years.
Diana was very passionate about her belief in God and always doing for others. She loved her Armenian Cilicia Church and worked tirelessly for it to thrive and to welcome all toit's doors. She had many positions in all of her years as achurch member. At one time or another, she was Trustee Chairwoman, Council Secretary, Vice Moderator, Clerk, Chairwoman of Church Facility, President of the Dorcus Guild and was in the Ladies Auxiliary. On occasion she was a choir member and even organized Vacation Bible School for many summers. Diana got things done and always stepped up to the plate when things needed to get done. Throughout the years, she helped organize church banquets, holiday bbq's, events for youth and received many Organization Recognition Awards.
Diana was very proud and passionate to be a member of the Daughters of Vatan, Varteni Chapter #17, Pasadena. It brought such joy to her life, making lifelong friends with the amazing men and women of the organization. Diana joined the Varteni Chapter in 1990. She immediately became involved and served on the board. Moving up in the ranks, serving as chairwoman of the local chapter and then became National Chairwoman 2017-2018. Diana loved the sisterhood and it was a mutual love and respect for all that knew her. Diana was able to travel back East to attend many of the organization's events. She even spoke in Time Square as the representative of Daughters of Varten and was televised on Armenian Television. She was a great public speaker and had the skill to have others listen towhat she had to say.
Diana is preceded in death by her mother and father, Melky and Rose Tookmanian and her sister, Madalyn Hakimian. She is survived by her sister, Cynthina Tookmanian; brother, Gregory Tookmanian; and nephew, Alexender Hakimian and a host of family and friends.
