Jonathan Chen made a birdie on the first playoff hole to win the San Rafael City Championship at Peacock Gap Golf Course on Sunday.

Chen was part of a three-way tie for first place with Christopher Audi and J.J. Scott through 36 holes at 2-under-par 140. Audi and Scott both made par on the first playoff hole and Chen came up with the birdie to win the championship flight.

Aaron Wong took fourth with an even-par 142, followed by former Redwood High standout Arjun Aujla in fifth at 143 and former Branson School standout Ryan Herbst in sixth at 144.

Matthew Regier shot a 72 on Sunday to finish at -3 for the tournament to win the men’s net flight. Judson Quimby was 1 under and Arron Goodin shot even par.

Tony Ralph shot a 140 over 36 holes to win the senior championship flight, one stroke ahead of Daniel O’Connor and two ahead of Joseph Schiebold.

Robert Wright finished at a 4-over 146 to win the men’s senior net flight, one stroke in front of Daniel Siri. Four golfers — Tim Kallas, Thierry Koblentz, Will Harris, and Casey Walters — finished two strokes back.

Saki Suzuki shot a 140 to win the women’s net flight, a full 12 strokes in front of the field.

Baseball

The pitchers were locked in as the San Rafael Pacifics allowed just one run in a pair of victories this weekend — 5-1 against Vallejo on Saturday and 5-0 against Monterey on Sunday.

Sunday starter Jared Greer allowed two hits and no runs over six innings of work before Richard Kiel came in to pitch three innings of hitless relief.

Jake Dent started on Saturday, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings of work.

Chris Wright had two hits and an RBI for the Pacifics (34-14) on Saturday against Vallejo (15-32). Kyle Guerra led the attack against Monterey (11-35-1) with three hits on Sunday.

The Pacifics have Monday off then hit the road for a game Tuesday against the Dublin Leprachauns.
