The Rocky Mountain Conservancy is set to hold a Field Institution event Friday designed to bolster the community’s understanding of the status of Colorado’s bat population.

The event will help animal lovers and nature enthusiasts learn more about the evolution, ecology, behavior, anatomy and threats of Colorado’s bats. Bat ecology expert, Jeremy Siemers, will lead the event, providing valuable education on the fascinating creatures.

Siemers has spent almost 20 years working with bats and is presently the lead zoologist for the Colorado Natural Heritage Program, a research program at Colorado State University. Friday’s program includes a classroom session that will include information about a wide range of surveying equipment and a field session where the group will travel together to nearby foraging habitat to observe and listen to bat activity.

The event is scheduled for Friday, July 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Fall River Visitor Center in Rocky Mountain National Park. The event costs $80 per attendee, and advanced registration is required at https://tinyurl.com/v82mt7w3.
