Sealing the deal: CU’s lead was down to 34-27 when Texas Tech got the ball back at its own 6-yard line with 1 minute, 3 seconds to play. On second down, Tech quarterback Behren Morton was sacked by Arden Walker, who knocked the ball loose. The Buffs’ Shilo Sanders scooped up the fumble and returned it 6 yards for a touchdown to make it a two-score game.
Turning point: Following an abysmal first quarter, the Buffs got on track with a 58-yard touchdown drive midway through the second quarter. They still trailed 13-7 at that point, but it kick-started a 34-7 run over a span of 43 minutes.
Quotable: “I’m proud of them, because they never give up, and I don’t flinch, because I know who they are. I know, OK, it’s gonna come. It’s gonna come. It’s not about the play calling. We’re just not executing. We’re not executing, doing what’s called on certain plays.” — Head coach Deion Sanders on not worrying about a slow start.
