Sandy was born August 3, 1924 and passed peacefully at the age of 100 on December 27, 2024 after ashort illness.
Originally from Lanhydrock, Bodwin, Cornwall, England. He is preceded in death by his partner Frederick Smith, as well as his mother, father and 12 siblings.
Sandy and his partner emigrated to the United States in 1955 where they continued to enjoy life for 56 years.
Though Sandy was a fully trained butcher, he and Fred chose to pursue work in the airline industry while putting each other through College. Sandy became an accomplished Ceramicist and educator attaining a master’s degree at San Francisco State College. Those who knew him knew that he loved to entertain, hosting dinner parties for 8 to 10 people well into his late 90s. Sandy served in the Royal Air Force during World War II, receiving many medals for his contribution to the war effort.
After his retirement in 1989, Sandy enjoyed world travel on cruise ships. He made many trips to different parts of the world on Cunard, P&O and also Princess cruises.
Services will be held January 18, 2025 at Lima Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Boulevard, Santa Clara at 1:00 p.m. with interment to directly follow.
