This will be just the second home game of the season so far for CU. … The Buffs are 49-2 in nonconference home games during Payne’s tenure, including a current 37-game win streak. … CU won the only previous meeting with Southern, 88-61, on March 15, 2002, in Boulder during the first round of the NCAA Tournament. … CU is hoping to have senior guard Frida Formann make her season debut against the Jaguars. The program’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers (260), Formann has missed the first four games with a foot injury. … Southern is expected to be one of the better teams in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Jaguars were projected to finish second in the SWAC in a preseason poll of coaches and sports information directors. … Southern is playing its first eight games away from home. CU will be the Jaguars’ fifth consecutive Power 4 conference opponent to start the year. They’ve lost at Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa State and Nebraska. … Southern will stay local to play at Colorado State on Tuesday night.
