A 26-year-old Eastpointe woman was arraigned Wednesday on charges of stabbing her live-in boyfriend multiple times in a dispute that was sparked by his alleged cheating.

Shantisha Howse was arraigned on one count of assault with intent to murder, a life felony, before 38th District Court Judge Kathleen Galen. Her bond was set by the judge at $250,000 cash/surety only.

Eastpointe police said Howse is accused of stabbing her boyfriend Monday night following an argument over his alleged infidelity.

“This is an example of how domestic violence can escalate,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido.

“Violence has no place in our homes, and we are committed to ensuring justice for every victim. It is our responsibility to stop the cycle of domestic violence and protect those among us,” Lucido added.

Police were called to the 24000 block of Valley Avenue on Monday night to respond to reports of a domestic dispute. When they arrived, officers found the male, who was suffering from six stab wounds.

The boyfriend was attacked while packing up his things to move out of the residence, according to police.

The victim remains in the hospital in stable condition, according to prosecutors.

Investigators said Howse suffered a cut to her pinky during the skirmish. She also was hospitalized.

If Howse is released, she must be fitted with a GPS tether and have no contact with the victim.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled 8 a.m. May 28 and a preliminary exam is scheduled for June 4 in 38th District Court.
