Four people were injured after the driver of a speeding Infiniti crossed a center median into oncoming traffic and hit three vehicles in Whittier on Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Around 10 a.m., a driver “traveling at a high rate of speed” in a white Infiniti sedan heading northbound on Colima Road near the intersection of Mar Vista Street crossed the center median into oncoming southbound traffic, according to Whittier police spokesperson Emily Armstrong.

The driver of the Infiniti crashed into three vehicles, with one flipping onto its side. The driver of the Infiniti was airlifted to a hospital for head trauma he received because he was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

The other three drivers were examined at the scene and transported to hospitals for reports of pain and minor injuries, according to Armstrong.

Police are investigating.
