MENTOR Minnesota recruits caring adults to help introduce a child to new ideas and opportunities through mentoring. Here’s one of the kids who could use a mentor’s help.

First name: George

Age: 8

Interests: George likes to be with people; he enjoys playing tag with his friends, being outside, Legos, coloring, watching YouTube, or playing his favorite game, Fortnite.

Personality/Characteristics: His guardian describes George as the life of the party and shy at the same time. Anywhere he goes he finds a friend. He talks a lot about things he likes and he loves to learn! He’s bright and energetic. George could use some help understanding boundaries. He can get riled up and struggle to calm down or find healthy ways to express his frustration.

Goals/dreams: When he grows up wants to be in the Army and serve our country. George’s three wishes: 1) That everyone has a home to live in 2) That vegetables only have to be eaten 2 times week and 3) Peace for all. George is incredibly curious and describes himself as a guy with big questions. He says, “I’m a ‘wondering guy.’” His guardian believes he would benefit greatly from the presence of a male mentor in his life to help him learn and grow, to feel safe with other adults, and to be an example of a hard-working, productive man. As the middle child, he would also benefit from this focused time with another adult
