The upcoming closure of the northbound off-ramp from Highway 113 onto East Gibson Road, originally scheduled to begin on June 9 and run through October, has been delayed indefinitely after Caltrans informed the city of Woodland that the project will be delayed.

The project aims to enhance interchange improvements, eliminating the free right turn for eastbound traffic and replacing it with a signalized intersection to improve overall safety and active transportation mobility.

This project will eliminate the free right turn at the northbound 113 off-ramp, and instead, the eastbound traffic will go through a signalized intersection in order to turn right.

According to a city press release, this project will enhance bicycle and pedestrian mobility by providing a controlled north/south crosswalk at the off-ramp intersection and eliminating the need to cross the uncontrolled traffic movement at the free right turn. The project will also deliver significant improvements to the sidewalks and landscaping.

The construction contract was awarded during a Dec. 17, 2024, Woodland City Council meeting to Carone & Company, Inc. in the amount of $1,671,099. The contract was fully executed on January 10, 2025.
